I had the chance to listen to JR himself talking about his work, and I must say I found it refreshing and inspiring: it's not just that he's a good photographer, but his goals and the ways to achieve them, together with his attitude towards celebrity, are truly impressive. While everyone tries to be noticed and dreams of being "famous", when a lot of contemporary photography and art in general to me at least is pretentious and self-centered, someone like JR is an anomaly. He wants to remain anonymous and independent, he funds his projects himself many of which are illegal , and he actively defends human causes.
